Complacency
Success breeds complacency when an organization is led by leaders who fail to anticipate the unanticipated.
The best leaders join their teammates in contemplating and discussing various “What if...?” scenarios that may be lurking just over the horizon of the next quarter, upcoming product roll-out, etc.
Many of my experiences as a combat leader are applicable to the business world, and this topic is a prime example. I tell my clients:
“In combat, complacency kills people.
In business, it kills companies.”
